Angkor Archaeological Park Welcomes 235,000+ International Visitors in Early 2024

Phnom Penh: Cambodia's iconic Angkor Archaeological Park has seen a significant influx of international visitors in the early months of this year, with Angkor Enterprise reporting over 235,850 foreign tourists gracing the ancient site and contributing to more than US$11 million in ticket sales.

February stood out with the park drawing in 120,318 overseas guests, resulting in revenues surpassing US$5.7 million solely from ticket sales. Visitors to the park have a range of ticket options, with single-day passes priced at US$37, a three-day sojourn at US$62, and an extensive week-long exploration ticket available for US$72.

Situated in the northwestern region of Siem Reap province, the Angkor Archaeological Park is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1992 and remains the most visited tourist destination in the kingdom of Cambodia.

Spanning over 401 square kilometers, the park showcases the awe-inspiring remnants of the Khmer Empire's capitals from the 9th to 15th centuries. It boasts an array of significant temples, including the world-renowned Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm, Chau Say Tevoda, and Ta Keo.

Before the pandemic, the Angkor Archaeological Park was a magnet for global tourists, attracting as many as 2.2 million international visitors in 2019, which generated a staggering US$99 million from ticket sales, as per records from Angkor Enterprise.
